2023-2024

The project was born from research that explored how wooden panels could be joined using recycled 3D printing waste and plastic tools to create furniture, leveraging plastic's ability to change shape with heat and quickly solidify. The purpose was to dicover plastic's qualities and use them to my advantage.

Material research process:
I conducted experiments in
connecting wooden parts with
different types of plastic,
using a variety of heating tools.

Using an extruder - clash between the natural wood and the synthetic plastic is achieved by heating the plastic to the exact temperature for it to flow in the pre-designed channels crafted into the wooden panels.

The extruder melts and pushes the shreded plastic into the wooden channels then i
quickly lock the parts together.

This process is crucial to create strong and aesthetically pleasing connections while removing the need for traditional adhesives or clamps.

The goal was to achieve a strong and efficient connector with minimal material usage. To create a more durable stool structure, I transitioned from using pine wood to oak wood.

The way I worked with leftover rafts during the process led to a design language focused on simple wooden planes, organized together to create a cohesive stool.

During my research i encountered products where there was a smart satisfaying use of rigid products with soft details or seemingly uncontrolled areas that had created a unique visual detail by intergrating in a functional and visualy pleasing way

I used carefully crafted minimalist wooden furniture as inspiration to place the joint at the center of attention.
The connector was designed to create a contrast between a well-made light wooden stool and a heavy black line.
