The primary objective of this project was to create ceramics that capture the essence of graffiti culture and street art. Graffiti and street art are often viewed with contempt, and those who engage in these forms of art are frequently labeled as criminals and subjected to derogatory remarks such as “visual disturbance” or having their talents dismissed with phrases like “artist???”.
The project explores the contrast between the generic nature of words displayed on stacked ceramic pieces and the visual delight that emerges when these words are broken and recombined, creating a unique visual experience.. This work aims to challenge and bring attention to old misconceptions, emphasizing the cultural significance of graffiti by presenting it in a manner that highlights its value and uniqueness.
